I'd say a little place called "White Kitchen" a few streets back in Kin ville by Hansen. Literally, walk past a few buy me drinkie's turn a left two or three alleys before ShangRi La.
You get like a super huge plate of delicious fried chicken for 5 bucks.

Let's start with Great Britain. Great Britain went from this:

To this:

Back to this:
Talk about rise and fall. :-| Granted Great Britain is still a major player in the world today but when you look at those maps.....holy ****. :D

Trust is a hard thing. It's really hit or miss.

If you trust anybody know matter how little or how much you run the risk of being hurt, betrayed, defrauded.

But if you go through life trusting nobody at all then you are almost not living. Trust at least at some level is a fundamental cornerstone of relationships and even the human experience IMHO.

This may be a question mankind has pondered since the beginning of humanity. Where do we draw the line between being too trusting and not trusting another person enough?

Is there a possibility of having a balance?

Can you have one without the other or can you not have one without the other?

I'd like the JUF team to reflect on this and reply accordingly.

Is it really a "robot mentality"?

After much reflection on the matter I don't think so. There may be some people who are like "robots" in the military but to say that the military facilitates a "robot mentality" is not an absolute truth.

The military by it's very nature requires instant and willing obedience to all lawful orders. On the other side of the coin you are told if an order seems unlawful to you to bring it to the appropriate person's attention.

There is a degree of judgement and inititive that is expected and required. This is the case from Pvt Schmuckatelli all the way up to MGySgt Jones and even the General.

A "robot mentality" would not allow one to make leadership decisions, quick decisions, decisions based on a particular situation.

To lead, mentor and guide another human being you need to certain amount of compassion. Whether that comes from positive reinforcement or "tough love" it still takes a human mind that can feel emotins to make such judgement.

I think people from the outside looking in are confusing dicipline and obedience with robot mentality.

In any case this is my piece for now. I may make additions to this post depending on where it goes.

I'd like the members of JUF to let this sink in. I would appreciate any feedback either positive or negative but I ask that we keep it civil.

If you could travel back in time to any point in history where would you go?

*Notes*
-You can bring anything from the present day with you.
-You can bring you're friends, family and pets with you.
-The purpose of this thread is to have fun and therefore anything goes.
-Be creative, be unique and above all have fun.
-You can pick as many places as you want.

So with all that out in the open let's get this thing started.

I'm not sure exactly where I'd go. I'd be sure to bring firearms, clothes, non-perishable food items, radio, CD player, batteries, many electric generators, encycolpedias. I'm sure I'd bring much more as well.

I'd like to go back to ancient egyptian times, Greece, or to the Aztecs. Wherever it would be I would use all this knowledge to make them think I'm a God. I'd make it appear that I'm inventing, inveneted and am even using magic and powers to do what I'm doing.

I'd take control of everything.

I think this would be fun.

Why is common sense called common sense when it's not common?

If it was so common wouldn't more people than not have it?

Common sense is very uncommn IMHO. Therefore isn't it a logical absurdity? If the term in question is not a bonafide absurdity than isn't it at the very least an oxymoron?

In any case common sense is not very common and therefore is not common sense.

Is the term wishful thinking?

Is it a common expression that makes no sense? If that's the case than common sense is neither common nor sense.

I would like the members of JUF to take this all in. Once the information is registered through you're brain I'd like an analysis on the topic.

That is all.

My wife and I were talking about typhoons the other day and we got to thinking about all the deaths caused by them. So my question for to day is

Are the goverments of places like taiwan, philippines ( i think the philippines is the worst, every year we hear about another ferry w/200+ people drowning. why send a ferry out when you know a typhoon is coming?), china etc so stupid that they do build there cities to with stand the 20 odd typhoons we get every year?

I was just thinking about Okinawa for example. Everyone always complains we live in a concrete jungle, but its this jungle that saves lives every year from typhoons(Ive been in Okinawa siince 02 and I think Ive only heard of one death caused by typhoon, and that was of an old lady livein in a shed in nago area). Sure mainland loses people every year but not a the rates of the pther countries I mentioned. SO what are these goverment thinking?
