How do search the classifieds? -- Go to Top
Searching through the classifieds is very easy once you get the hang of it. At the very top of every page you will see a dropbar that says, "Search by Category". Click it and choose the type of ad you want to look at. If JavaScript is enabled on your browser (which is usually the case), the classifieds will go directly to the type of ad you specified. If JavaScript is not enabled, click the "Search" button. If there are more than ten ads that fit into that category, the next page will say "Navigation: Next 10 Ads". Click this to navigate between pages.
How do I place an ad? -- Go to Top
Submitting an ad to the Online Island Market Classifieds is very easy. At the top of the screen you will see a link that says, "Place an Ad." Click this. This link takes you to the front page of the classifieds. If you are already on the front page, you do not need to click this link. You should see several descriptions about different ad classifications such as "Regular (Free)", "Priority", etc. Inside the descriptions, there are links that say, "Place a (type) ad." Click this. Fill out and submit the form. If you make any mistakes, the system will warn you and allow you to fix them. After you have submitted your form without any errors, your ad will go into our database. If you are placing a Priority, Priority Gold, Business, Business Gold, or Business Elite ad, you must click the button that says, "Click to pay thru 2CheckOut." If you do not click this button, you haven't paid for your ad. After clicking the button, follow the directions on the next few places and submit your credit card information for payment. Once we have received your payment, your ad will be validated by our webmaster.
What is the deadline for placing ads to appear in the Newspaper? -- Go to Top
The deadline for placing ads to appear in the Island Market Newspaper is Monday, 4:30pm. All ads placed before the deadline will appear in that week's issue of the newspaper. All ads placed after the deadline (even five minutes after) will appear in the next week's issue.
Why is my ad not appearing online? -- Go to Top
There are a few reasons why your ad might not be appearing online:
  1. The webmaster hasn't validated your ad yet. We receive over 1,000 ads per week and it takes quite an effort to keep up with all of the ads. Ads do not appear online immediately after they are submitted. They must first be validated. Our webmaster usually validates ads twice or three times every day, but during the weekends we are occasionally a little slow. We enjoy our weekend down-time as much as anyone else. However, all Priority, Priority Gold, Business, Business Gold, and Business Elite ads appear online almost immediately after we receive payment. If you would like special attention for your ad, we recommend you post one of these types of ads.
     
  2. You forgot to pay. After submitting your ad, you must click the button that says, "Click to pay thru 2CheckOut." If you do not click this button, then you will not be able to pay online. Click it and submit your credit card information for payment on the next few pages that follow.
     
  3. You placed your ad as the wrong type or category and your ad was deleted. Read the rules and follow them.
     
  4. We made a mistake. If you placed a Priority, Priority Gold, Business, Business Gold, or Business Elite ad AND paid online andyour ad does not appear after 48 hours, send a copy of your ad and invoice to webmaster@japanupdate.com and we will make sure your ad appears online right away.

How do I pay online? -- Go to Top
Immediately after you successfully submit a Priority, Priority Gold, Business, Business Gold, or Business Elite ad, you will see a button surrounded by a grey box that says "Click to pay thru 2CheckOut." Click this and fill out your credit card information on the next few pages. You will receive an receipt from 2checkout.com addressed from webmaster@japanupdate.com stating how much you paid and which type of ad you ordered.
I forgot to pay for my ad. How can I pay? -- Go to Top
If you submitted your ad but forgot to pay online, click the appropriate button below to pay for your ad. Also, If you submitted your ad and think you paid online but never got an invoice in the email, your payment didn't go through, so try again by clicking one of the buttons below.

If you submitted an ad as part of our translation package but forgot to pay for it, click the appropriate button below.


I don't want to pay online. Where else can I pay? -- Go to Top
If you are unable to pay online and would rather pay in person, you can order your ad at either Print-21 inside the Camp Foster Concession Mall or at Okinawa Market in Chuo Park Avenue in Koza (Okinawa City) near Kadena Gate 2. Call Print-21 at (098) 896-1925 or 646-2911. Call Okinawa Market at (098) 921-2052.
How long will my ad stay online? -- Go to Top
All ads remain online for one week unless they are Priority Gold, Business Gold, or Business Elite ads. These ads stay online indefinitely until the person who posted the ad decides to unsubscribe from the service. If you have a Priority Gold, Business Gold, or Business Elite ad that you would like removed, send an email to webmaster@japanupdate.com.
Can I edit or update my ad? -- Go to Top
Unless your ad is a Priority Gold, Business Gold, or Business Elite ad, you cannot edit or update your ad. If you have purchased one of these ads and would like it edited or updated, send an email to webmaster@japanupdate.com.
I want my ad to appear for exactly __ weeks. What should I do? -- Go to Top
Place your ad as a Gold or Elite ad and email us at webmaster@japanupdate.com whenever you are ready for your ad to be removed and want billing to be stopped.
How do I delete my free ad? -- Go to Top
If you are registered as a myJU member, log into myJU with your username and password BEFORE you place an ad. If you do so, your ad will show in your myJU member's page and you will be able to delete it anytime you like or set it to run for another seven days. All Regular, Priority, and Business ads are automatically deleted after appearing online for seven days.
How do I remove a Gold or Elite ad and stop being billed? -- Go to Top
Send an email to webmaster@japanupdate.com with a copy of your order receipt and we will remove it for you and stop your billing. There is no way for you to remove your own Gold or Elite ad and stop billing. Only the webmaster is able to do so, so email us as soon as you want your ad removed.
