Kadena High School heads for national baseball championshipsDate Posted: 2009-11-05 It was the fourth time an Okinawa high school has won the Kyushu championship, dating back to 1997, when Okinawa Fishery High School won the first time. Yaeyama Commercial High School was the last to win the Kyushu tournament, doing the honors for Okinawa in 2006. Kadena High School won the game Saturday at the Miyazaki Prefecture Sun Marine Stadium. Once the All Japan Nationwide Baseball Tournament is in the books, high schools begin preparing for a chance to play at the nation’s biggest event, the Summer Baseball Championships at Koshien Baseball Stadium in Hyogo Prefeture.
